The non-profit Claudia Foundation is dedicated to the cultural and educational enrichment
of girls and
women. It promotes literacy and provides scholarships to the financially disadvantaged,
regardless of
age, race or religion. It seeks to identify, champion and protect girls who are at risk.
In addition, it
encourages understanding and tolerance by bringing informational programs and speakers to
the local
community. Television writer, producer and director Linda Bloodworth Thomason started the
Foundation in 1989 to honor her late mother, Claudia Bloodworth, who died in
1986.
