· Divide and replant crowded fall-blooming bulbs after leaves yellow.
· Buy winter- and spring-blooming bulbs keeping them cool until you plant them.
· Divide and replant summer- and fall-blooming perennials after they bloom.
· Loosen lawn thatch and aerate the lawn.
· Start fall compost pile.
· Plant winter and spring flowering bulbs
· Plant container roses so roots have time to establish themselves before the ground freezes (do not fertilize)

· October is the best month to transplant Perennials. Enrich beds with organic soil amendment.
· Marigolds will bloom until the frost arrives. Feed, water and deadhead.
· Divide and re-plant... Daisies, Calla lilies, and Day lilies if needed so you will have more blooms next year. (If you noticed less blooms this year, they need to be divided. Usually every three years)
· Remove suckers from Rose and Lilac bushes.
· Continue watering all plants as they will survive freezing temperatures more than thirsty ones.
· Prune vines and summer blooming plants. Do not prune spring blooming plants, like azalea.
